Double Degree programmes offer MSc students the opportunity to extend their international experience beyond a semester abroad and complete part of their studies at a partner university, obtaining qualifications from both institutions.
Unlike a standard exchange, a Double Degree follows a specific study path agreed between Politecnico di Milano and the partner university. Students spend an extended period abroad, complete the academic requirements of both institutions and develop a thesis jointly supervised by professors from the two universities.
Master of Science
Students in Digital and Interaction Design can currently apply for two Double Degree programmes in China: Tongji University in Shanghai and Tsinghua University in Beijing. Both offer the opportunity to experience leading international design environments while combining the approaches and educational cultures of the two institutions.
Students apply during the first year of the MSc and begin the international part of the programme from the second year. The Double Degree extends the standard study path, replacing part of the curriculum at Politecnico with a longer period at the partner university. To obtain both qualifications, students must complete the required courses and a thesis jointly supervised by Politecnico di Milano and the partner institution.
Tongji University — Shanghai
The Double Degree with Tongji University is developed with the College of Design and Innovation, an internationally oriented design school with strong connections to research, industry, social innovation and sustainable development.
Digital and Interaction Design students complete approximately 86 ECTS at Politecnico di Milano, including the thesis, and 64 credits at Tongji University. Applications take place during the first year of the MSc, with departure in the second year.
Tsinghua University — Beijing
The Double Degree with Tsinghua University is developed with the Academy of Arts and Design, one of China’s leading institutions for art and design education and research.
The programme lasts five semesters and combines study at Politecnico di Milano and Tsinghua University. Students complete 90 ECTS at Politecnico and 60 credits at the partner university, applying during the first year and starting their mobility in the second.
